Last night I decided that today would be my “shoot” day in order to get footage for my podcast intro. I checked the weather and it was going to be a nice, clear mid 50’s day. Perfect for shooting!
I met up with my good friend Millie for brunch before the big shoot and invited her along. She was great to have because she could take those shots I wouldn’t risk alone in fear of getting my camera stolen. I had my list of places to go that I thought would look great for the intro and we set off on our adventure as Seattle tourists!
I don’t want to spoil too much of it, though there isn’t much to it. It’s a typical intro with location shots. So I had to get the touristy things. We decided we had to ride the Monorail. Neither of us had done it and it goes directly from the market where we took our first shots to the Seattle Center, where the space needle is. So it was a perfect idea.
I took a really great shot of me traveling on the rail and after a few shots in the Seattle Center we decided that today was a day of firsts. Let’s eat dinner in the Space Needle! Who cares!? We’re comfortable in our Seattle residency to be able to enjoy the tourist life for a night. I have to tell you, I’m glad we did. It was absolutely stunning. We rode up in the elevator just as the sun was beginning to set. Our table initially overlooked Mt. Rainier and downtown as we slowly spun towards the Cascade Mountains while the sun settled below the landscape.
It was worth the $50 a plate dinner. The needle spins a full rotation once every 47 minutes and we were able to see the most beautiful scenery. I’ve been in the Columbia Center Tower which is the tallest building in Seattle with a lookout, but the needle has class!
The evening was amazing. Millie and I parted ways and I rushed home to view the footage of our awesome day. Unfortunately, I’m sad to report that after 3 shots into our day one of us accidentally put the camera in compact mode. My camera takes great footage at a really decent resolution (30fps @ 640x480). However, compact mode is literally about the size of a paperclip. All of the days footage was worthless, including the monorail and our dinner at sunset in the Space Needle.
An amazing day with a bummer of an evening.
I’m really, really hoping that I can reshoot a lot of it tomorrow but I don’t think I’ll ever be able to recreate that beautiful sunset in the Space Needle (plus I’m not spending another $50!). Not only that, but the forecast calls for rain.
I need a beer.

I know i shouldn’t laugh but I did. Sorry to hear you footage couldn’t be used. That is exactly what kind of thing would happen to me.
Last summer my husband went home to Tennessee with three of the children. he took my camera and my video camera and for two weeks took only three pictures of the kids. He did take several pictures at the zoo of the animals
There I was hoping to put together a wonderful photo album and video of my families vacation and had absolutely nothing to use.

Haha totally cc. I forgot to mention that I had taken about 50 pics over the day though so the day wasn’t a complete loss. I’ll make sure and share some of those, there were some good ones!
