Please suggest one movie only that you think needs to be viewed and reviewed. You don’t have to write an essay but please let me know why you suggest this film in so many words. Since I only have four free trials to give away I’ll only select the four best recommendations * that in my opinion give the best reason to watch this film. Any genre, any rating, any director. If it’s on netflix I’ll watch it and review it. Even if I’ve already seen it.
These free trial offers are only redeemable until June 15th, 2008 but I will select the winners by next Friday, June 6th so the winners have time to redeem their gift. Also, don’t be afraid to recommend movies even if you already have netflix or even after this is over! I’ll watch everything that is recommended to me here as long as I can find it on Netflix. I will bump everything to the top of my queue starting with the four selected winners.
Please suggest away, I love watching movies and as an actor and filmmaker this is extremely important to my craft and I’m always looking to expand my knowledge and learn. Plus, I love being the best at the entertainment category in Trivial Pursuit!
* I will select the four best recommendations based on how convincing of a suggestion I deem it to be. For example, if you say “Watch Zoolander, dude!” I’ll probably skip you. Convince me!

I was just talking to a friend about the documentary “Helvetica” last night. Especially as a visual person I think you’d enjoy it. The most compelling thing about the movie for me was the historical perspective and weight it gave to a typeface I’d used and enjoyed but never really thought about before. Hearing about how this little typeface rode in on the wave of modernism and bitch-slaped global visual culture across the face was really fascinating. It’s a story you can see all around you anywhere you go, too, so that’s fun. Plus it looks pretty and there are a few hilariously nerdy and grumpy type designers to watch.

i really liked king corn, a documentary about the food systems fucked up corn usage. also across the universe, a beattles musical, was surprisingly interesting to me. im not usually into musicals but this movie did a good job working in the singing to the story, and reminded me how many great songs the beattles wrote. spriggan, an anime in the style of ghost in the shell, was excellent, deals with topics like climate change and whatnot, is great if u liked ghost in the shell. also, hot rod, a really stupid movie, made me laugh quite a bit, one of those so damn silly and stupid its funny movies.
i know theres more i could recomend but my memory sucks. thats what i could find from my last 30 days.
if you havent seen knocked up or superbad, id highly recomend them. funny to watch over and over again.

Those are definitely great suggestions guys, thanks! cclub, will definitely add you to my netflix friends. I have a few friends on there already but don’t take advantage of the functionality much.
I’ll compile a list for a separate blog I think of my movie recommendations. Good thinking!
