Welcome to the totally new JoeyTrimmer.com! It’s been a long time in the works but I’ve finally finished and am really excited to jump back into the blogging world with a bang.
So many things to talk about and I’m glad I can have an outlet again for all my thoughts. Sure my old website worked but it was very constricting. If I didn’t have an audition or play to talk about I didn’t feel justified in writing anything.
With this new site I’ve hopefully opened the doors to more blogging ventures. I’ve implemented my del.icio.us feed (my latest noteworthy links), the last song I’ve listened to on my iTunes, and opened up the categories to include a broad variety of topics rather than just acting. You may also notice the “podcast” link in the navigation. I hope to begin my video podcasting in the very near future. There is still a lot of work to put into that though so look for an announcement on that when it’s ready.
So with that announcement comes another. I’ve just completed a move into my new beautiful apartment in Seattle’s Capitol Hill neighborhood. The picture you see here is my living room. I took the pictures at night so the lighting wasn’t that great. I’ll try and post more later.
I hope you enjoy the new design and please let me know if you notice any problems!

As you may have noticed some of the pages aren’t finished. That’s because I’m really tired and am going to bed. I’ll hopefully be able to get things polished off tomorrow evening.
But in the meantime, tell me what you think!

Joey, this is absolutely lovely. I’m liking the new design. Wow! your livingroom is clean. Are those videos or books hanging on the wall?

Hey Marsha! I’m really glad you are diggin the new design. I feel much more at home with this site already!
Those are DVDs in that rack. The bookcase is on the other side of the room. I’ll have to take more detailed shots. Unfortunately, my DVD collection is lacking since I’m super picky about the movies good enough to purchase.
My book collection on the other hand is getting kind of crazy!

I might have to disable Gravatars as they are loading really slow or not at all. Bummer.

Are you sure it’s not just your internet connection? The gravatars on my site load extremely slowly from my work computer but quickly at home.

Oh that may be the problem! I have cable internet but I’m glad to have the gravatars confirmed working on someone else’s computer.
I’m not a fan of gravatars loading so slowly though. I hope I can figure out a solution. I took them out temporarily.

Joey, this is looking SOOOOOOO great, man! It shows so much thought and time and esperience have gone into it! Actually, I feel super comfy here because it reminds me a little of the Logic interface! hahaha! Anyway, it’s peaceful and harmonious. Great details. Fantastic work!

YES! comfy was my main priority. It just feels great to enjoy coming to my site again. This design was long overdue.

The comment preview is now working, any chance that the “notify me of follow-up comments” has been tested? I’d love to know if that’s working.

Oh that’s sweet! Thanks!
If only I could get gravatars to be more reliable. I’m just using an avatar for me and default for everyone else until there’s a better solution.

Oh man, this is so slick. Probably my favorite design yet. I’ve come back like 3 times just in the last day or so to marvel at the entire thing.
The bold, thick borders, coupled with the sweet sans-serif font; utter genius. The site itself reminds me of a series of granite slabs, just oozing class and professionalism. Very slick, dude.
One caveat, though: when you view an article, the first paragraph that’s displayed from the home/blog page is no-where to be found. Right away, it threw me off, since I always click into an article before reading anything.
But then something else occurred to me as well: If you link directly to an article (especially via an RSS feed), those who click that link will never see the first paragraph or however much you supply prior to your “click here to continue reading” link. Definitely consider showing the entire article when following the permalink.
But man… I love it sooooo much! Great work! It’s your designs that always make me go, “Yah… I’m a programmer, not a designer.” and dispel any feelings of self worth! Haha, just kidding, but really - utterly humbled in your shadow

Aaron thanks dude! I’m super glad you like it.
You know, regarding the summary that shows up on the home page and not the full article...I was trying to make it a teaser that summed up the article and then the actual article when you click through. Good point about the RSS feeds though and I’ve gone ahead and just added it in.
It works better that way anyway. Thanks again!
