I’ve finally made the first step to releasing my video podcast tentatively (and most likely temporarily) titled “The Joey Showy”. I’ve created the theme song!
It’s very exciting because I can’t wait to release the podcast and share it with everyone. It’s been years since I decided I was going to do a podcast. It started with the idea of doing a radio play type podcast, but my new digicam has a really nice video feature that I just can’t ignore. The next day I shared it with a few people to get a little feedback and tried to not think about it while working. I tend to over-think my own artistic endeavors.
So after a productive day of work I went home and realized that cooking was not on the agenda for the evening. I decided to walk to one of my favorite pubs in Seattle, the Elysian Brewing Co, for some dinner and a nice brew (their IPA is awesome).
As I sip my beer and wait for my dinner I decide to pull out my iPod Touch and surf the web a little. Apparently, I can’t be away from a screen flashing digital information brightly into my eyes for more than an hour. As fate would have it, a cute girl sits next to me and comments on my digital device. Finally the recognition! I know I’m not as cool as an iPhone owner but it was nice to know that the new iPod can still be a conversation starter (It still works Kevin Rose!)!
So over the course of a couple more beers I learn that my new and pleasant conversation partner, Michelle, is in the same business (she’s an accomplished web designer and developer) as I am and has also worked at the same job I left a year or so ago (small web company that shall not be named). What are the odds? It was finally great to get a few things off my chest to someone who understands!
She eventually had to leave to her other job for the evening at the Poco Wine Room which happened to be right around the corner from my new apartment. So we had to continue our discussion of XHTML, CSS, web standards, apple, and everything geeky under the sun. Wow. This place was really, really cool. The wine was great and the company was lots of fun. In between our continued conversation I was entertained by the bar patron Casey’s gay joke involving a king, his two daughters - one beautiful and one ugly, a prince and a dragon. I’m told this wasn’t his first time telling this joke. I’d tell it but it’s one you have to hear outloud. Perhaps video podcast it?! Probably not.
How I didn’t wake up with a massive hangover is a mystery.

....I want a theme song too!!! This video podcasting thing is not easy. I have done two. It takes a lot of time to put a show together. I’m going to do another soon. I have two cameras one on the computer and one sony handycam on a tripod. I thought of shooting both at the same time and cutting and splicing together scenes. The first two video podcast I only used my sony handycam.
I am so exciting about seeing a podcast from you. I don’t think I have ever heard your voice. Let me know when it is ready to view.

Sounds like you have a better setup than I do! That’s part of my challenge. I plan on doing the entire video podcast with my canon a640.
I know, you haven’t heard my voice yet! Soon, very soon.

are you sure “As I sip my beer and wait for my dinner I decide to pull out my iPod Touch and surf the web a little.” isn’t code for some sort of foreplay?

Steph Sugar brings up a legitimate inquiry.
